Manufacturing ERP

Manufacturing ERP with embedded AI

Nexa AI ERP connects production with the stock, purchasing, sales and finance records around it, so manufacturers can plan, make, trace and cost work in one system and ask questions about it in plain English.

What manufacturers need from ERP

A manufacturer’s margin is decided across several departments at once. Material prices are set in purchasing, consumption happens on the shop floor, stock sits in the warehouse and costs land in the ledger. When those records live in different systems, it is hard to see why a job cost more than planned or whether materials will be available for next week’s orders.

Manufacturing ERP brings these steps together. In Nexa, the Manufacturing & Production module works on the same data as Inventory & Stock, Purchasing & Procurement, Warehouse Management, Sales Management and Finance & Accounting.

Workflows

Manufacturing workflows in Nexa

Capabilities from the Nexa modules most used by manufacturers.

01

Bills of materials and routing

Define what goes into each product and the steps used to make it.

02

Production planning and MRP

Plan production, raise manufacturing orders and use material requirements planning (MRP) to see which materials production needs.

03

Material consumption

Record materials used on each manufacturing order, so actual use can be compared with plan.

04

Batch tracking and quality control

Track batches through production and record quality checks.

05

Procurement

Requisitions, purchase orders, supplier contracts, approval workflows and invoice matching.

06

Stock and warehouse

Stock tracking, serial and batch tracking, valuation, stocktakes, and receiving, put-away and picking by location, zone and bin.

From order to finished goods to invoice

Because every module shares one operating model, a typical make-to-order flow stays inside Nexa:

  1. A quotation becomes a sales order in Sales Management.
  2. Production planning raises a manufacturing order using the product’s bill of materials and routing.
  3. Material requirements planning (MRP) shows the materials the plan needs; shortfalls are raised as requisitions and purchase orders, with approval workflows.
  4. Goods are received and put away to locations and bins in Warehouse Management.
  5. Material consumption and batches are recorded against the manufacturing order, with quality control checks.
  6. Finished goods are picked, packed and dispatched, invoiced and posted to the ledger.

For contract or project-based manufacturing, Projects & Job Costing tracks budgets, timesheets, expenses and job profitability alongside production. See all eleven modules.

How Nexa AI helps manufacturers

Nexa AI works from the same connected records your teams use. For a manufacturer, that means questions can cross production, stock, purchasing and finance in one step. Nexa AI explains why figures moved, flags issues before they escalate with proactive alerts and suggests what to do next, for your team to approve, edit or reject.

Nexa AI is powered by a locally hosted large language model. Actions it proposes are carried out only after a user approves them. How Nexa AI works.

Questions manufacturers ask

  • Which production orders used more material than planned?
  • Why did gross margin drop this month?
  • Where are stock shortages developing?
  • Which suppliers have increased their costs?

Illustrative examples, not actual AI outputs.

Traceability and control

Serial and batch tracking runs through Inventory & Stock and Manufacturing & Production, so you can follow a batch from receipt into production and out to dispatch. Role-based permissions align users to their responsibilities and approval limits, and audit history is designed to preserve key actions, changes and approvals. Read about security at Nexa.

Customer perspective

One Media Optical, a media manufacturing and distribution business, uses Nexa to connect its sales, purchasing, inventory and finance in one platform. The company reports that month-end processing fell from 8 days to 2 days.

Questions to ask any manufacturing ERP vendor

  1. How are bills of materials, routings and their changes managed?
  2. How is production planned against sales demand and available stock?
  3. How are actual material use and cost compared with plan for each order?
  4. How are batches and serial numbers traced from receipt to dispatch?
  5. Which costing method does the system use, and how do costs reach the ledger?
  6. How will shop-floor data be captured, and which existing systems need to connect?

A Nexa demonstration covers these against your own products and processes, and confirms which capabilities apply to your use case.

FAQ

Common questions

What is manufacturing ERP?

Manufacturing ERP connects production planning, bills of materials, material consumption and quality with the stock, purchasing, sales and finance records around them, so manufacturers can plan, make, trace and cost work in one system.

Does Nexa support bills of materials and production planning?

Yes. The Manufacturing & Production module covers bills of materials and routing, production planning and manufacturing orders, material consumption, batch tracking and quality control.

Does Nexa include material requirements planning (MRP)?

Yes. MRP is part of Nexa’s manufacturing functionality and works with bills of materials, production planning and stock records in the same system.

Can Nexa trace batches?

Yes. Serial and batch tracking is available in Inventory & Stock, and batch tracking is part of Manufacturing & Production.

How does AI help a manufacturer?

Nexa AI answers plain-English questions across production, stock, purchasing and finance data, such as which production orders used more material than planned, and explains why figures moved. Recommendations are reviewed by your team, and actions are carried out only after a user approves them.

Is Nexa suitable for smaller manufacturers?

Nexa is designed for growing UK small and mid-sized businesses, particularly manufacturers and wholesale distributors. Which modules apply is confirmed during a demonstration and scoping.
